Wellesley Public Schools is seeking an enthusiastic student-centered Library Media Specialist to join our community. This position works with grades K-5 in collaboration with teachers to help students become efficient users of information in all forms, explore their creativity, and develop a literary appreciation.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- MA State certification as a Library Media Specialist.
- Master’s degree preferred from a program accredited by the American Library Association or from a master’s level program in library and information studies.
- Competency in both print and non-print materials and educational technology.
- Experience with a variety of technology applications, design thinking and computer science basics and their integration into the K-5 curriculum.
- Commitment to equity and culturally responsive teaching practices.
- Ability to engage and motivate all students, including students with disabilities and emergent bilingual (English Learners - EL) students in a student-centered approach using a variety of individual, small groups, large groups, technology-based, and other high-interest teaching strategies.

- To empower students to be critical thinkers, enthusiastic readers, skillful researchers, and ethical users of information
- To instill a love of learning in all students and ensure equitable access to information
- To collaborate with classroom teachers and specialists to design and implement lessons and units of instruction, and assess student learning and instructional effectiveness
- To provide the leadership and expertise necessary to ensure that the school library program is aligned with the mission, goals, and objectives of the school and the school district, and is an integral component of the learning/instructional program To ensure that students and staff are effective users of ideas and information.

EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with district policies.
