What are the responsibilities and job description for the Police Sergeant position at Wellesley College?
The position of Sergeant performs and provides direct supervision, support, and backup to police and security officers in routine patrol, directed patrol, community policing, and special event activities. Reviews and assists officers as necessary on incident reports, accident reports, and any other such reports prepared by officers on a daily basis.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise shift operations to include decision making and notification to Chief via chain of command
- Review and approve reports
- Monitor and evaluate performance of subordinates
- Direct Dispatch and Security personnel on tasks for shift operational efficiency
Requirements
- Minimum of three (3) years of police experience, preferably at the rank of supervisor or sergeant as the experience level
- All candidates must have attended and successfully completed a police academy allowing them to be licensed as a State Special Police Officer under Massachusetts General Law C. 22c Sec. 63
