What are the responsibilities and job description for the Trailer Maintenance Associate position at WELLBORNE MECHANIC CO LLC?
Hours: Sunday - Thursday - 2pm - 10:30pm
Conducts maintenance and safety inspections of trailers upon return to the distribution center. Performs preventive maintenance, minor repairs, cleaning, and yard checks of running refrigeration units on trailers. Cleans trailer repair shop and other maintenance work areas. Monitors inventory of parts and supplies and advises Manager of any need to restock.
- Inspect trailers for damage or broken equipment.
- Perform inspection and maintenance on trailers as follows:
- Breaks and drums replacement as needed
- Tire replacement as needed
- Door, walls and roof repair as needed
- Inspect king pin, cross members and landing gear
- Assist maintenance technicians with more complex trailer and refrigeration unit repairs.
- Safe chocking of trailer and operation of trailer doors.
- Remove packing material and other debris left inside trailer after the unloading process is complete. Utilize mechanical load lifting equipment to remove heavy debris as required.
- Safely and efficiently operate trailer washing equipment and supplies to clean trailer to required specifications.
- Properly store, handle and dispose of various cleaning supplies.
- Monitor inventory of parts and supplies and alert supervisor for need to restock.
- Accurately complete work completion reports and trailer damage reports as required.
- Clean and tidy the work area.
- Such other duties about the trailer yard and maintenance areas as may be assigned.
- Maintain a professional and cooperative demeanor with customer representatives at all times.
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred. Must have attained education level sufficient to read and write work orders and inspection reports in English.
- Ability to use hand tools and operate mechanical devices utilized in preventive maintenance and trailer washing.
- Basic automotive/truck maintenance experience
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
Strong customer orientation.
Exerts up to 50 lbs. of force to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects. Job involves walking, or standing for long periods. Must have ability to safely climb stairs, ladders, and equipment footholds. Some work from heights is required. Must possess ability to work nights and weekends where required.
