As a Trailer Maintenance Technician, you will be responsible for inspecting, maintaining, and repairing trailers to ensure they are safe and roadworthy. This role requires a keen eye for detail, strong technical skills, and a commitment to maintaining high-quality standards. You will work independently or as part of a team to perform routine maintenance tasks, diagnose issues, and implement effective solutions to keep trailers in optimal condition.
HOURS: Monday - Friday - 15:00pm - 23.30pm, some Sundays
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Conduct thorough inspections of trailers to identify any mechanical, electrical, or structural issues.
- Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as lubricating moving parts, checking fluid levels, and replacing worn-out components.
- Inspect brakes, tires, lights, and other safety features to ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
- Diagnose and repair mechanical problems, including issues with brakes, suspension systems, axles, and hydraulic systems.
- Troubleshoot electrical systems, including lighting, wiring, and connectors, to address any malfunctions or failures.
- Perform welding, cutting, and fabrication tasks to repair or modify trailer components as needed.
- Keep accurate records of maintenance activities, including inspections, repairs, and parts inventory.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors and other team members to coordinate maintenance schedules and prioritize tasks.
- Adhere to safety protocols and procedures to prevent accidents and injuries in the workplace.
- Stay updated on industry trends, technologies, and best practices related to trailer maintenance.
EDUCATION QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS
Prior experience as a trailer maintenance technician or similar maintenance role in the transportation, logistics, or other related industry.
Candidates must have their own set of tools necessary to perform trailer maintenance and repair tasks. The specific tools required may vary depending on the employer's needs and the nature of the work, but typically include:
- Basic Hand Tools: Wrenches, sockets, screwdrivers, pliers, hammers, etc.
- Specialty Tools: Brake adjustment tools, torque wrenches, bearing pullers, etc.
- Power Tools: Impact wrenches, drills, grinders, etc.
- Diagnostic Equipment: Multimeters, circuit testers, diagnostic scanners, etc.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT
