SCHEDULE: Monday - Friday - 8-5pm
POSITION SUMMARY
The Shop Manager is a critical leadership role responsible for the daily operations of our maintenance and repair facility. You will oversee a team of technicians, ensuring all fleet vehicles and equipment are maintained and repaired safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards. Your focus will be on driving shop productivity, managing budgets, and implementing best practices to minimize downtime and support our regional transportation operations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Daily Operations: Manage all shop activities, including scheduling, workflow, and resource allocation to ensure timely and quality service for our fleet.
- Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and develop a team of diesel mechanics and technicians. You'll conduct performance reviews, provide technical guidance, and foster a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Safety and Compliance: Champion a safety-first environment. Ensure all maintenance and repair work is performed in full compliance with company policies, DOT (Department of Transportation), and OSHA regulations.
- Budget Management: Monitor and control the shop's budget, including expenses for labor, parts, and supplies. Implement cost-saving initiatives without compromising on quality or safety.
- Inventory Control: Oversee the parts inventory system, ensuring proper stock levels and efficient use of resources.
- Performance Reporting: Track key performance indicators (KPIs) such as repair turnaround time, labor efficiency, and asset uptime. Provide regular reports to senior management.
EDUCATION QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS
- Education: A high school diploma or GED is required. An Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Automotive Technology, Diesel Mechanics, or a related field is preferred.
- Experience: At least 5 years of experience in fleet maintenance, heavy-duty truck repair, or a related field, with at least 2 years in a leadership or supervisory role.
- Certifications: Professional certifications such as Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) or other relevant technical certifications are a plus.
- Knowledge: Strong knowledge of diesel engines, truck systems, diagnostics, and preventive maintenance programs. A solid understanding of DOT and OSHA regulations is essential.
