About the Position
The NAM Credit and Collections Manager is primarily responsible for the timely collections of US and CAN receivables, coordinating efforts aimed in the timely resolution of billing disputes, and forecasting collections to manage cash flow. In addition, this position will support the global Schlumberger (SLB) Accounts Receivable (AR) portfolio.
Essential Responsibilities and Duties:
- North America:
- Builds relationships with clients’ Accounts Payable (AP) and Supply Chain personnel
- Manages the timely collection of receivables through various methods of correspondence with clients’ AP Team
- Collaborates with Billing Admins in the timely resolution of disputes (issuance of credit memos, rebills, etc.)
- Organizes periodic reviews with internal stakeholders on collections status of clients, based on value and aging
- Escalates to Sales when payments are stalled and when additional support is needed within clients’ approval structure
- Maintain thorough records of client correspondence and set procedures to update status of each client (minimally) 2x/mth
- Creates and updates a monthly collections forecast to help HQ in the Cash Flow exercise
- Builds and maintains a ‘promise to pay’ status to help in cash forecasting
- Prevents EDI issues to improve collections*Accountable for successfully meeting DSO objectives as defined by Finance
- Responsible for the Client On boarding process, establishing credit limits and gathering the required data
- Supports Treasury Department with collections forecast and other reporting regarding cash availability and funding
- Supports Legal department with the communication between Client and WIS when contracts are being created
- Complies and participates in all company policies and practices, including but not limited to, QHSE, Code of Conduct, Finance, etc.
- Ability to communicate and interact with, as well as support, a Teamwork mentality with managers, peers and subordinates
- Able to build rapport with internal and external contacts
- Able to analyze and solve problems
- Discretion when dealing with confidential information
- Other duties and Special Projects as assigned
- Global:
- Manages the timely collection of receivables through various methods of correspondence within SLB organization
- Primary contact to reconcile Schlumberger’s global payables to WIS*Works directly with SLB’s Global Supply Chain Mgmt, Controllers and Transition Team to reconcile system or approval issues preventingtimely payments
- Coordinate with Regional Finance Controllers (RFCs) on updates pertaining to SLB portfolio for their respective region
Previous Experience and Competencies:
- 5 years in Oil & Gas Industry with proficiency in understanding financial drivers
- 5 years in Collections function with data entry/transaction responsibilities
- Oracle ERP experience preferred
- Collaborative attitude
- Flexible; Adaptable to change
- Able to handle large amounts of responsibility
- Strong multitasker and self-starter
Requirements:
- Proven work experience as a Collections Manager, Analyst or similar role
- Knowledge of OpenInvoice, Ariba, Cortex and other portals used to determine collectability and timeliness of payment
- Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to create and process financial spreadsheets (e.g. in Excel)
- Up to date with legal, compliance and market risk related issues
- Process-minded
