Position Overview


Well Brain Body is seeking a compassionate and experienced Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, Board Certified (PMHNP-BC) to join our clinical team in a contract-to-hire capacity.


The PMHNP-BC will provide comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, medication management, ongoing follow-up care, and individualized treatment planning through telehealth. The ideal candidate combines strong clinical judgment with a warm, collaborative, and patient-centered approach.


This position is primarily virtual. Candidates must reside in or near the Greater Los Angeles area and be available for occasional in-person meetings, training, or future clinical needs.


Successful performance during the initial contract period may lead to an offer of regular employment with Well Brain Body.


Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and mental health assessments.
  • Diagnose psychiatric conditions using current clinical and diagnostic standards.
  • Develop individualized, evidence-based treatment plans.
  • Prescribe, manage, and monitor psychiatric medications within the provider’s authorized scope of practice.
  • Conduct medication-management and follow-up appointments through telehealth.
  • Monitor treatment effectiveness, medication adherence, symptoms, side effects, and patient progress.
  • Order and review laboratory testing when clinically appropriate.
  • Provide patient education regarding diagnoses, medications, treatment options, risks, benefits, and alternatives.
  • Complete suicide risk assessments, safety planning, and appropriate crisis escalation or referrals.
  • Collaborate with therapists, primary care providers, supervising or collaborating physicians when applicable, and other members of the patient’s care team.
  • Maintain timely, accurate, and complete clinical documentation.
  • Comply with HIPAA, telehealth requirements, prescribing regulations, organizational policies, and applicable federal and California laws.
  • Participate in clinical consultation, quality-improvement activities, team meetings, and care coordination.
  • Maintain professional boundaries and provide culturally responsive, LGBTQIA affirming, and trauma-informed care.
  • Support continuity of care through appropriate referrals and coordination with external providers and community resources.


Required Qualifications

  • Master’s or doctoral degree from an accredited psychiatric-mental health nurse practitioner program.
  • Current and unrestricted California Registered Nurse license.
  • Current and unrestricted California Nurse Practitioner certification.
  • Current board certification as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner through the American Nurses Credentialing Center.
  • Active California Nurse Practitioner Furnishing Number.
  • Current DEA registration and authorization to prescribe controlled substances, as required for the position.
  • Current National Provider Identifier.
  • Current professional liability insurance or ability to obtain coverage before beginning work.
  • Ability to successfully complete applicable credentialing, background screening, and payer-enrollment requirements.
  • Strong clinical assessment, diagnostic, medication-management, and documentation skills.
  • Ability to practice independently while collaborating effectively with an interdisciplinary team.
  • Reliable technology, internet access, and a private workspace suitable for confidential telehealth services.
  • Residence within reasonable commuting distance of Los Angeles, California.


Preferred Qualifications

  • At least two years of psychiatric or behavioral-health experience as a PMHNP.
  • Previous experience providing outpatient psychiatric care through telehealth.
  • Experience treating depression, anxiety, ADHD, mood disorders, and related conditions.
  • Experience working with diverse patient populations.
  • Familiarity with electronic health records, electronic prescribing systems, and virtual-care platforms.
  • Experience with insurance credentialing, billing documentation, and medical-necessity requirements.
  • Experience providing LGBTQIA affirming and trauma-informed care.
