Salary: $25.59-$49.33 per hour, based on experience and qualifications.
SUMMARY
Collects and processes specimens to perform a variety of highly complex chemical, microscopic and bacteriologic tests and procedures and related duties to obtain data for use in diagnosis and treatment of disease, following established standards and practices.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Follow the laboratory's procedures for specimen collection, handling, ordering and processing, test analysis, reporting and maintaining records of patient test results.
Adhere to laboratory's quality control policies, document all quality control activities, instrument and procedural calibrations and maintenance performed. Request supplies as needed. Follow the laboratory’s established policies and procedures whenever test systems are not within the laboratory's defined acceptable levels of performance.
Be capable of identifying problems that may adversely affect test performance or reporting of test results and either correct the problem or notify supervisor or manager.
Maintain professional growth and development through seminars, workshops, conferences and professional affiliation.
Qualified person may assume responsibility for department in absence of Laboratory Manager/Supervisor.
Demonstrates organization values in daily work. Interacts with all patients, visitors, physicians and organization staff in a courteous, respectful and professional manner.
Supports the policies and procedures of the organization and the standards of the Joint Commission and laboratory accrediting agency as required for full accreditation.
Considers age-related factors in care, treatment, education, and evaluation of patients ranging from neonates, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics. Applies knowledge of age related factors appropriately in accordance with professional standards and departmental policies and procedures.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Associate's degree (A.A.) in Lab Science from accredited school and/or meet CLIA requirements for high complexity testing. Bachelor's degree (B.S.) degree in Laboratory Science from accredited school and/or is certified as a MT/CLS by an approved program (ie. ASCP, NCA, HEW)
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Laboratory Technician Certification from approved program (ASCP, NCA, AMT).
