Position Summary
The Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) will report to the Regional Manager and will provide expert welding knowledge and inspection services to customers across our territory. This role combines technical consulting, application support, training, and quality assurance with hands-on interaction in fabrication shops, field sites, and customer facilities. The ideal candidate is customer-focused, highly technical, and comfortable interfacing with welders, quality managers, engineers, and sales personnel.
Essential Functions:
- Serve as the technical expert for welding codes, standards, specifications, and project requirements by performing visual inspections and also to witness & verify non-destructive tests & their reports.
- Review, develop, and assist in preparing Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS), Procedure Qualification Records (PQR), and Welder Performance Qualifications and issue recommendations for corrective actions to ensure the safety and structural integrity of welded components.
- Verify that welders are qualified, and that welding procedures and specifications (WPS) are followed correctly.
- Conduct in-house and field welding inspections per the ASME, AWS, API or applicable codes.
- Perform pre-weld, in-process, and post-weld inspections to identify defects and ensure quality.
- Assist customers in troubleshooting welding defects, process inefficiencies, equipment issues, and inspect welded joints, checking dimensions, penetration, and bead formation
- Witness non-destructive testing (NDT) and interpret / verify results.
- Deliver product demonstrations and technical presentations on welding equipment, gases, and safety.
- Work alongside sales teams to identify customer needs, recommend solutions, and support product adoption.
- Visual inspection on the quality of welding and mechanical projects.
- Make sure safety protocols are observed. Promptly report incidents to the Management and Safety Manager
- Performing other related duties as assigned.

- Must be able to demonstrate knowledge of welding inspections.
Education and Experience
- College Bachelor’s Degree and/or high school diploma required.
- Must have an active AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification.
- Minimum of five (5) years industrial welding-related inspection experience, Two (2) of these years should be in Quality Assurance / Vendor Surveillance / Shop Inspections Inspector roles.
- Minimum of ten (10) years’ industry experience
- Familiarity with AWS, ASME, API, and other relevant welding codes.
- Welding inspections experience at manufacturer shops / facilities.
- Welding, specialty gases or industry knowledge
Work Environment
- Must be comfortable working in an industrial workshop environment.
- Position has regular movement throughout the day (walking, standing, twisting, reaching above the head, etc.)
- Regular use and repetitive motion of office equipment (computer, phone, faxes, copiers, scanners, etc.).
- Subject to working in environmental conditions ranging from below freezing to over 100 degrees
- Able to lift 50 – 75 pounds frequently
- Subject to noise; there is sufficient noise to cause the need to shout in order to be heard above ambient noise level.
- Subject to hazards; includes a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles.

Pay Range and Benefits:
The disclosed pay range is based on a consideration of neutral factors and criteria such as required qualifications, experience, education, skill, training, certification, seniority and more.
Pay Range: $$60,000 - $$85,000 annually
Weldstar reserves the right to offer the selected candidate or applicant an hourly rate or salary at an appropriate level to be set and determined by the employer that is commensurate with the applicant’s qualifications, experience, education, skill, training, certification, and/or seniority.
