Job Title: Athletic Director/Athletic Coach
Reports To: School Principal
FLSA Status: Stipend
Job Summary
The Athletic Director/Athletic Coach is responsible for planning, organizing, and leading a competitive and educational athletic program that promotes student-athlete development, sportsmanship, teamwork, and personal growth. The coach ensures compliance with district, conference, and state athletic regulations while fostering a safe and inclusive environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Plan, organize, and conduct daily practices and training sessions.
- Instruct student-athletes in the rules, strategies, and techniques of the sport.
- Promote academic achievement, discipline, and positive character among student-athletes.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of all participants during practices, games, and travel.
- Supervise student-athletes at all times during team-related activities.
- Collaborate with the Athletic Director on scheduling, equipment needs, and program operations.
- Maintain accurate records, including eligibility, attendance, and inventory.
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, school staff, and administration.
- Model and enforce good sportsmanship and ethical behavior.
- Ensure compliance with all district policies, state athletic association guidelines, and applicable laws.
- Attend required meetings, trainings, and professional development sessions.

Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Prior coaching experience or participation in the sport preferred.
- Knowledge of sport-specific skills, rules, and conditioning techniques.
- Ability to motivate and develop student-athletes.
- Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
- Current CPR/First Aid certification (or ability to obtain).
- Completion of required background checks and district clearances.
Working Conditions
- Work is performed in indoor and outdoor athletic settings.
- Requires evening, weekend, and travel commitments.
- Exposure to varying weather conditions.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to demonstrate athletic skills and techniques.
- Standing, walking, running, and lifting equipment up to 50 pounds.
Terms of Employment
- Employment is seasonal and contingent upon program needs, student participation, and Board approval.
- Compensation is based on the district’s approved coaching supplement schedule.
Evaluation
Performance will be evaluated in accordance with district policies and procedures by the Athletic Director and/or School Principal.
