Summary: Resident substitutes serve as an in-building substitute, filling in for any/all regular classroom teachers for the entire school year. Assignments might change daily, or resident substitutes might be assigned to long-term substitute roles.

For candidates with a high school diploma, the salary is the average of the daily substitute rate and the base teaching salary, $37,505 per year. For candidates with a bachelor's degree, the candidate will be placed and remain on BA Step 1 for the duration of their employment in the position. For the 2025-2026 school year, the BA Step 1 salary is $49,250 per year. See the Licensed Salary Schedule under the Employment Opportunities tab. The district provides all candidates with health insurance benefits including dental and vision, PERA retirement plan, life insurance, long-term disability, an optional supplemental 401(k) plan, an employee assistance plan, a tuition reimbursement program, and the ability to enroll in supplemental insurances and savings accounts through a third-party vendor. Weld RE-9 offers sick leave and personal leave as well as other benefits specific to our school district.
