What are the responsibilities and job description for the High School Assistant Volleyball Coach position at Weld RE-9 School District?
- Attend all practices and games
- Ensure the safety of all participants in practice and at games
- Adhere to the district athletic policies and eligibility process
- Communicate and work with Athletic Director as needed
- Develop and implement practice plans in order to maximize time and player development
- Communicate with parents regarding rules and expectations of practices and activities
- Adhere to Weld RE-9 District and CHSAA policies
- Attend CHSAA and league meetings
- Hire and work with assistant coaching staff
- Communicate with all stakeholders as needed
- Complete inventories of supplies at the end of each season
- Fundraise for the program as needed
- Model and ensure that all participants exhibit appropriate sportsmanlike conduct that upholds the honor and values of our community
- Player Development: Work with individual players to improve their skills and performance.
- Recruiting: Help identify and recruit potential student-athletes.
- Administrative Tasks: Assist with scheduling, travel arrangements, and other program-related administrative duties.
- Team Management: Contribute to a positive team environment and ensure players adhere to program rules and expectations.
- Practice Assistance: Help organize and conduct practices, focusing on skill development and team strategy.
- Game Strategy: Assist in developing game plans, scouting opponents, and analyzing game footage.
- Minimum of a High School Diploma or GED required
- Candidate must pass a fingerprint background check as a condition of employment
- Upon hiring, the candidate must complete CHSAA testing as well as mandatory CHSAA courses and CPR/First Aid training.
- Volleyball Knowledge: Strong understanding of volleyball rules, strategies, and techniques.
- Communication Skills: Ability to effectively communicate with players, coaches, and parents.
- Organization Skills: Ability to manage time effectively and organize practices, equipment, and travel arrangements.
- Passion for Volleyball: A genuine love for the sport and a desire to help student-athletes succeed.
- Coaching Experience: Prior coaching experience is highly recommended, ideally at the high school level.

Duties:
Salary and Benefits: The salary for this position is 6% of base teacher salary ($2955 per season for the 2025-2026 school year BUT the salary schedule will be updated in Spring 2026), as well as enrollment in a PERA retirement plan and unemployment insurance. Candidates who have previously coached volleyball for Weld Re-9 are eligible for $150 per year as an experience factor. Coaching at other districts or schools does not count towards the experience factor.
