What are the responsibilities and job description for the District Wide School Interpreter/Translator position at Weld County School District Re-8?
- Interpret for parents and school personnel at school meetings and events
- Function as a communication link between non-English speaking and limited-English speaking families and school/district personnel.
- Attend interpreter trainings provided by the district
- Provide a clear and accurate explanation with no additions or omissions.
- Demonstrate commitment to cultural sensitivity and working in a diverse environment
- Interpret faithfully and always convey the thought, intent, and spirit of the speaker and/or student while maintaining confidentiality and professional demeanor at all times
- Demonstrate good customer service and clear enunciation, pronunciation, professional voice as well as polite forms of expression
- Provide translation services for the district as needed
- Bilingual in English, Spanish, and/or Punjabi
- Familiarity with Pre K-12 educational environments and educational interpreting preferred
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Excellent listening, retention, and note-taking skills to maintain high levels of accuracy
- Must pass district screener.
- Educational Interpreter Authorization certification preferred
- Applicants cannot go over 20 hours a week, and applicants are not guaranteed a minimum number of hours worked per week or school year.
- Hourly position based on need

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: - Direct deposit of payroll is a condition of employment.
- All contracts/agreements for the employment of personnel shall be subject to the approval of the Board of Education.
- No smoking is allowed in any Weld County School District Re 8 buildings.
- Selected applicant must comply with the District's Drug-Free Workplace policy.

Job Description
This is a non-contracted position under Agreement for Services only with no benefits. Grant funded - 1 year - classified position. Hired applicants go into Weld Re-8 interpreter/translator pool.
Weld Re-8 Schools has families who come from Latin America and India and speak Spanish and Punjabi. The district is looking for bilingual interpreters, especially for the languages: Spanish and Punjabi.
Salary: $24.80 per hour (hours will vary)
Reports to: District Family & Community Specialist
Summary:
Provide interpretation/translation services in English, Spanish, and Punjabi, spoken by families in the district. Be adaptable to schedule changes and on-call needs of the district, school, and personnel.
