Class A CDL Dump Truck Driver Job Overview
Welch Brothers Construction, Inc. is seeking an experienced Class A CDL Truck Driver to join our team. Since 1979, we have proudly served Skagit County and the surrounding areas as a civil construction general contractor. Our work specializes in site development, earthwork, and underground utility installation for residential subdivisions, commercial developments, and industrial projects.
In this role, you will be responsible for safely transporting construction materials, equipment, and machinery to and from job sites throughout Northwest Washington, with projects ranging from Blaine to the Seattle area. This is a non-union position, however, some projects are performed under prevailing wage requirements. The hourly rate will fall between $30-$40 an hour, determined by your experience level and any additional endorsements.
Responsibilities
- Safely operate a variety of commercial vehicles and equipment, including: Truck and trailer, Truck and pup, Flatbed trailer for transporting heavy equipment, Super Solo (drop axle).
- Transport materials and construction equipment safely and efficiently to job sites.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure compliance with safety standards and DOT regulations.
- Perform regular maintenance on trucks and inform supervisors of any issues.
- Keep truck clean and organized.
- Comply with all Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, company policies, and applicable traffic laws.
- Demonstrate the ability to safely maneuver and back vehicles in confined job site conditions.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors and job site personnel to ensure timely deliveries and safe operations.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of experience operating and maintaining dump trucks.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience hauling heavy equipment.
- Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with a clean driving record.
- Strong knowledge of construction site safety, truck maintenance, and DOT regulations.
- Ability to plan and manage routes efficiently using GPS and navigation systems.
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
- Ability to commute to our office and shop located in Anacortes, WA 98221.
- Ability to successfully pass a pre-employment drug screening, background check, and road test.
Preferred Qualifications (Not Required)
- Construction laborer or heavy equipment operator experience.
- Tanker endorsement.
- Experience operating a vacuum (vac) truck.
