Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Plant Nursery Worker to join our team. This role involves various tasks related to plant care, maintenance, and nursery operations, ensuring that our plants thrive and meet customer expectations.
Duties
- Assist in the daily operations of the nursery, including planting, watering, and maintaining plant health.
- Operate irrigation systems effectively to ensure optimal water supply for various plant species.
- Utilize horticultural knowledge to identify plant species and assess their growth needs.
- Perform routine greenhouse maintenance tasks such as cleaning, organizing, and preparing plants for sale.
- Engage in landscaping activities, including planting flowers, shrubs, and trees as needed.
- Use hand tools and mechanical equipment safely for tasks such as digging, pruning, and transplanting.
- Conduct basic math calculations for inventory management and plant care schedules.
- Lift heavy materials and plants as required to maintain nursery operations.
- Provide excellent customer service by assisting customers with plant selection and care advice.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in horticulture, agriculture, or a related field is preferred but not required.
- Familiarity with irrigation systems and greenhouse operations is a plus.
- Knowledge of plant identification and care techniques is essential.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting (up to 50 pounds) and engage in outdoor work in various weather conditions.
- Basic mechanical knowledge for operating tools and equipment safely.
- Strong attention to detail with a commitment to maintaining high standards of plant care.
