Field Service ApprenticeReports To: Service DirectorThe Field Service Apprentice is responsible for learning the skills required to assist in the diagnosis, repair and calibration of complex cascade refrigeration and electrical systems on Weiss Technik environmental test chambers. During this time the Apprentice will work alongside production and other required departments to complete the required training through the production of Test Chambers. Once training requirements are completed you will have the opportunity to be independently deployed as a Field Service Technician and be assigned to a territory within the United States that will require travel up to 50% of the scheduled work time per year. The Field Service Apprentice will train between Weiss Technik North America's Cincinnati, OH facility and the corporate office located in Grand Rapids, MI, for a period of up to 12 months based on training achievements. Upon completion of this program , you will be provided with a certificate of completion specific to Weiss Technik North America, Inc. as this is an apprenticeship program designed and implemented by Weiss Technik North America, Inc. and not a state agency.Job Purpose/Authority StatementThe Job Title listed empowers the Incumbent with the authority to execute all duties and responsibility listed below. In the event of a conflict of authority, the Incumbent shall elevate to direct supervisor for resolution. Duties and ResponsibilitiesComplete Career Path training program to assist in the diagnosis, repair and calibration of complex cascade refrigeration and electrical systems on Weiss Technik environmental test chambers. Installation and maintenance of environmental test chambers and usage of hand and power tools, refrigeration gauges and evacuatorsSuccessful completion of training checklist every 90 days and receive feedback on completion of training to establish training goals.Maintain a clean and orderly work space.Maintain and organize fully operation service vehicle.Turn in job expenses weekly or bi-weekly fashion for job costing purposes and have company related credit cards paid in a timely fashion and without penalty fees.Keep, properly maintain, and turn in calibration equipment at required intervals.Learn how to maintain high level of focus on customer satisfaction.Assist with installs and services those who extensive knowledge of refrigeration, electrical, controllers, hydraulics, calibrators, pneumatics. Provides telephone technical assistance as required.Travels throughout North America and Worldwide when required. Assist with training sessions at Service Seminars or at customer facilities. Interacts with engineering and manufacturing Dept regarding in-house and field equipment failures. Documents field trips and properly records paperwork. Capable of reading and understanding test reports and prioritizing workloads. Must be capable of driving a forklift. Knowledge of electrical safety policies, including lock-out/tag-out, and EPA refrigeration certification.Train to have a working knowledge of CRM database and Visual Manufacturing to review and enter data.Train to have a working knowledge of computer systems, e.g. Industrial Engineering drives, latest version of Windows OS, MS Outlook, and Word, Excel.Train how to operate vacuum pumps, PID controls, and work with low voltages.QualificationsEmployee must be able to perform simple math functionsHave the ability to accurately use measuring instrumentsBe willing to provide basic tools required for the positionBe willing to train as required and possess the ability to understand shop pick lists and travel related to job and accurately report time to job assignments.Must be capable of reading and understanding SOP’s and FDA/GMP’s and willing to work in an office environment or travel up to 2 weeks per month as required.High School Diploma/GED or comparable experience required.
