A high volume orthopaedic surgery practice is seeking a proactive, detail driven surgery coordinator to manage all aspects of the surgical scheduling process. This is a fast paced, patient focused role requiring exceptional organization, communication and follow through. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Coordinate and schedule orthopaedic surgeries, procedures and pre-operative testing
Obtain insurance authorizations and verify coverage for surgical procedures
Serve as the primary point of contact for patients regarding surgery dates, instructions and pre/post operative requirements
Communicate with hospitals, ambulatory surgery centers, physician assistants and clinical staff to ensure complete and accurate case preparation
Prepare and submit all required clinical documents, operative notes and imaging
Maintain surgeon's operative calendar and track scheduling changes
Provide compassionate support and timely updates to patients and families
QUALIFICATIONS:
Previous experience in surgery scheduling, orthopaedics or medical office coordination preferred
Strong understanding of medical terminology, orthopaedic terminology a plus
Knowledge of insurance authorizations and pre-certification
Excellent communication, customer service and problem solving skills
Ability to multitask, prioritize and remain calm in a busy setting
Proficiency with EMR systems and scheduling software
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $24.69 - $29.73 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
