Job Summary ---Read Entire Description

The Clinic Floater is a cross-trained team member responsible for supporting both the administrative and clinical operations of Weiss Family Care. This position assists with front office responsibilities, direct patient care, and mobile clinic operations to ensure efficient workflow and exceptional patient service. The Clinic Floater must be adaptable, dependable, and willing to work wherever the greatest need exists throughout the clinic. The Clinic Floater works in a variety of settings, including the medical office, mobile clinic, schools, businesses, community events, and other outreach locations. Flexibility, professionalism, and a team-oriented attitude are essential for success in this role.

Hours & Work Schedule

  • Regular clinic hours are:
  • Monday–Thursday: 7:30 AM – 5:00 PM
  • Friday: 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM
  • The clinic is closed daily for lunch from 12:00 PM – 1:00 PM.
  • This position may occasionally require arriving earlier or remaining later than scheduled to assist with mobile clinic operations, community outreach events, or patient care needs.
  • Occasional local travel is required for mobile clinic events.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities Front Office

  • Greet patients and visitors in a professional, friendly, and courteous manner.
  • Answer incoming telephone calls, respond to patient inquiries, and direct calls appropriately.
  • Schedule, reschedule, and confirm patient appointments.
  • Verify patient demographics, insurance information, and reason for visit.
  • Register patients and accurately enter information into the electronic medical record (EMR).
  • Assist patients with completing required paperwork.
  • Collect copayments, outstanding balances, and process payments.
  • Balance the cash drawer and reconcile daily transactions.
  • Process referrals, prior authorizations, diagnostic testing requests, and incoming/outgoing faxes.
  • Scan, file, and maintain patient records while ensuring HIPAA compliance.

Clinical

  • Prepare examination and treatment rooms with appropriate supplies and equipment.
  • Obtain and document patient histories, medications, allergies, chief complaints, and vital signs.
  • Prepare patients for examinations, procedures, and treatments.
  • Assist providers during examinations and procedures.
  • Administer injections, immunizations, medications, and treatments within the scope of certification and state regulations.
  • Collect and process laboratory specimens and perform CLIA-waived testing.
  • Perform EKGs and other clinical procedures as directed.
  • Educate patients regarding medications, treatment plans, preventive care, and follow-up instructions.
  • Maintain accurate clinical documentation in the EMR.
  • Clean and disinfect patient care areas while following OSHA and infection control standards.
  • Monitor and restock clinical supplies.

Mobile Clinic

  • Travel with the provider to community outreach events, schools, businesses, health fairs, and other off-site locations.
  • Load, unload, set up, and break down mobile clinic equipment and supplies.
  • Ensure the mobile clinic is fully stocked with medications, vaccines, laboratory supplies, and equipment before each event.
  • Register patients, obtain consent forms, collect vital signs, document services, and assist with patient flow.
  • Assist the provider with examinations, laboratory collections, vaccinations, screenings, and treatments performed during mobile clinic events.
  • Represent Weiss Family Care professionally while providing exceptional customer service within the community.

General Responsibilities

  • Float between front office and clinical responsibilities based on daily operational needs.
  • Communicate professionally with patients, providers, pharmacies, specialists, laboratories, hospitals, and insurance companies.
  • Work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a positive attitude and excellent customer service.
  • Protect patient confidentiality and comply with all HIPAA, OSHA, CLIA, and clinic policies.
  • Adapt quickly to changing priorities and staffing needs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Medical Assistant certification preferred but not required based on experience and assigned duties.
  • Previous medical office or outpatient clinic experience preferred.
  • CPR/BLS certification preferred.
  • Experience with electronic medical records (EMR) preferred.
  • Excellent communication, customer service, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to multitask and work independently or as part of a team.
  • Reliable transportation and willingness to travel locally for mobile clinic events.

Essential Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Frequently bend, reach, stoop, and lift during patient care and mobile clinic setup.
  • Ability to push and pull carts, coolers, and mobile clinic equipment.
  • Ability to work both indoors and outdoors during community outreach events.
  • Ability to safely operate within a fast-paced clinical environment.

Pay: $17.00 - $19.00 per hour
