Job Overview:
The Tax Manager is responsible for managing and reviewing complex tax compliance and consulting engagements while serving as a trusted advisor to clients. This role includes overseeing tax staff, ensuring technical accuracy, improving processes, and contributing to the firm’s growth through client service excellence, practice development, and staff mentoring.
Primary Responsibilities:
Tax Compliance & Advisory
- Manage and review federal, state, and local tax returns for individuals, partnerships, S corporations, C corporations, trusts, and other entities
- Research and interpret complex tax issues and provide practical, well-documented recommendations
- Identify tax planning opportunities and proactively advise clients on tax minimization strategies
- Stay current on tax law changes and communicate impacts to clients and internal team members
- Review and oversee extensions, estimates, and other required tax filings
Client Management
- Serve as primary point of contact for assigned clients and maintain strong, long-term relationships
- Communicate clearly with clients regarding tax matters, deadlines, and planning opportunities
- Manage multiple engagements simultaneously while meeting firm and client deadlines
- Assist partners with client presentations, proposals, and ongoing advisory services
Leadership & Team Development
- Supervise, mentor, and develop tax staff and senior associates
- Review staff work for technical accuracy, completeness, and adherence to firm standards
- Provide timely feedback, coaching, and performance evaluations
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field (Master’s in Taxation preferred)
- Active CPA license (required)
- 6–10 years of public accounting tax experience
- Strong knowledge of federal and state tax regulations
- Experience reviewing complex individual and business tax returns
- Proficiency with tax software (e.g., CCH, UltraTax, ProSystem fx, Lacerte) and Microsoft Excel
Preferred Qualifications:
- Strong knowledge of tax code, compliance and procedures for corporations
- Familiarity with U.S. federal, state and local reporting requirements
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Good at meeting deadlines and solving problems
- Exceptional client service along with the ability to develop excellent client relationships
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills
- Analytical skills with detail orientation
- Ability to work independently and with a team

Salary : $100,000 - $130,000
