The Role:
The Sr. Quality Engineer is an advanced position responsible for supporting the quality assurance functions within the Somers Operations. They are responsible for quality activities of all manufactured finished products from PurposeBuilt Brands. This is a very tactically focused problem-solving role that works directly with Plant Management, Supervisors, and Operators to support production. This position interacts with Research and Development team and Supply Chain Operations as part of the broader quality team.
What You Will Do:
- Leads efforts to continually improve the quality management system (QMS) within the plant
- Focuses on defect identification, prevention, and elimination of defect on the shop floor
- Creates factory level KPI’s to support OEE and operator engagement
- Communicates/Tracks/Reports defect reduction efforts across organization
- Supports the non-conforming material process (identification/segregation/disposition)
- Works with inspectors to lead containment activity on shop floor and warehouse as needed
- Participates on NPD teams to support the transition of products to the shop floor
- Facilitates problem solving and root cause analysis to eliminate non-conformance
- Establishes and monitors quality KPI’s across the factory and leads improvement projects
- Performs document control processes to ensure all procedures are properly documented, updated as needed and in compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Participates in pilot and/or first product runs to identify potential quality issues
- Evaluate and improve the performance of raw material suppliers and Co-Manufacturing suppliers
- Provide training in Quality Management System (QMS) development and quality principles

What You Will Bring:
- 3-5 years of experience in a Quality role
- Ability to manage multiple projects/activities; results driven
- Requires strong organizational skills as well as presentation abilities
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Computer Proficiency, MS Office Products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) ERP systems
- Advanced knowledge of quality topics and improvement processes including: DMAIC, Statistical Process Control methods and Process Capability Index (CPK), CAPA, Cause and Effect Analysis, Pareto Analysis, etc.
- Experience auditing processes and systems
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods.
- Ability to occasionally lift or move items up to 25 lbs.
- Frequent use of a computer and standard office equipment.
- Ability to perform visual inspections of materials and products.
- Occasional bending, reaching, or stooping while on the production floor.
- Ability to work in both office and manufacturing environments, with required PPE when on the plant floor.
