We are seeking a Part Time Laboratory Assistant to support our Molecular (PCR) laboratory. The position requires consistent, detail-oriented work in specimen handling, sterile aliquoting, electronic order management, and logistical coordination. This part time role ensures the lab maintains timely processing, testing quality, and scalability amid growing test volumes.

We are seeking a Part Time Laboratory Assistant to support our Molecular (PCR) laboratory. The position requires consistent, detail-oriented work in specimen handling, sterile aliquoting, electronic order management, and logistical coordination. This part time role ensures the lab maintains timely processing, testing quality, and scalability amid growing test volumes.
Essential Functions
- Sample Processing & Documentation
- Receive and log patient specimens with strict attention to labeling and order accuracy.
- Sterile aliquoting of samples for PCR and AP workflows.
- Maintain accurate records in the EMR system and Excel worksheets.
- Operational Support
- Submit orders electronically and update internal records in real-time.
- Coordinate reference lab shipments and courier schedules.
- Support daily sample routing, sample splitting, and molecular prep tasks.
- Collaborate with lab techs and reference labs to optimize and manage workflows.
- Identify and escalate processing delays to prevent turnaround time interruptions.
- Contribute to shared logistics projects and inter-lab efficiency strategies.
Preferred Skills
- Prior lab experience preferred (clinical, research, or academic settings).
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and EMR systems.
- Working knowledge of medical terminology
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Dependable, communicative, and collaborative.
- Comfortable working independently in a high-complexity, fast-paced environment.

- High school diploma or equivalent
- Laboratory safety training (biohazard handling, OSHA regulations)
- Experience in a clinical or pathology lab
