What You’ll Do

At marimo, we’re on a mission to make the world’s best open-source programming environment for working with data, together with a world-class, scalable, and performant cloud-hosted counterpart. marimo is a reinvention of the Python notebook — it feels like a next-gen reactive Python notebook, but is stored as pure Python that can be versioned with Git, deployed as a data app, run as a script, and reused as a module. Incubated initially with scientists at Stanford, marimo is now used by leading companies, labs, and universities around the world, with millions of downloads since launch and over 17,000 stars on our GitHub repository.

The marimo growth team is responsible for managing and growing the marimo community, playing a critical role in our goal of making marimo the standard Python used by millions of developers around the world. The marimo community is diverse, including AI/ML developers, backend developers, security engineers, data engineers, data scientists, natural scientists, professors, students, and more. The growth team's mandate is to build scalable bottoms-up growth motions across these subcommunities, helping them transform their workflows with our next-generation notebook. You will work alongside engineers, will be given high autonomy, and will be trusted to make a large impact.

About The Role

As a senior developer relations engineer on marimo's growth team, you will:

• Work smart (and hard) to find high-leverage, scalable, and measurable ways to growth usage, ranging from growth engineering to content creation
• Serving as a technical bridge between Marimo and our users, maintaining relationships with key champions and community members
• Organize and regularly attend events in the SF Bay Area (and around the US when needed)
• Build and nurture relationships with partner open-source projects and DevRel teams to co-create content, integrations, and joint community initiatives
• Build and own metrics pipelines for marimo's open-source marimo notebook, VS Code extension, and our hosted notebook service molab

Who You Are

• 2 years of experience in software engineering
• 2 years of experience in developer relations and growth
• Proficiency in Python, with strong fundamentals that are language agnostic
• Technical background in AI, ML, and data science
• Strong communication skills, written and verbal, with a proven track record

• Experience with AI engineering, including MCP and agents

The base salary range for this role is $165,000 to $242,000. The starting salary will be determined based on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and market location. We strive for both market alignment and internal equity when determining compensation. In addition to base salary, our total rewards package includes a discretionary bonus, equity awards, and a comprehensive benefits program (all based on eligibility).

Our Workplace

While we prioritize a hybrid work environment, remote work may be considered for candidates located more than 30 miles from an office, based on role requirements for specialized skill sets. New hires will be invited to attend onboarding at one of our hubs within their first month. Teams also gather quarterly to support collaboration
