Business Development Manager – Device Connectivity (Houston)

Position: Business Development Manager – Device Connectivity
Team: Business Development – Device Connectivity
Reports to: Director of Device & Field Connectivity
Classification: Exempt

Position Summary: Responsible for meeting the Device Connectivity/PCB sales and profit goals in an assigned region and driving/supporting representatives and our channel partners to expand the Weidmüller position.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Drives sales and support activities at all key target customers and key channel partners within assigned region.
  • By industry and product segment, develops an understanding of the region’s market size and potential opportunity for growth.
  • Works closely with Industry Managers to develop and execute industry strategies.
  • Implements and supports marketing strategies and programs.
  • Implements strategies to meet and exceed budget goal requirements established.
  • Establishes and measures all territory expense budgets and sales goals.
  • Manages the profitability and cost of sales within the region.
  • Conducts regularly scheduled territory and regional reviews with all channel partners.
  • Ensures thorough familiarity with and actively adheres to all Environmental and Safety and Security Policies and performs their duties in accordance with those policies.
  • Conducts tasks in accordance with applicable health, safety, quality, and environmental and security regulations (state/federal laws, ISO 9001, CFR 1910 OSHA) as well as Company policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for notifying your direct supervisor, manager and/or a member of the Executive Staff of any risks associated with the Quality Management System.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by direct supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Sales experience with PCB/Electromechanical components.
  • Excellent presentation, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office: Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Proven sales techniques and consulting skills.

Education/Experience:

  • Minimum High School Diploma or GED
  • BS degree in Electrical Engineering or Business Administration or other undergraduate degree or equivalent experience.
  • Five to seven years of successful combined electronics component sales and sales management experience.
  • Sales experience working with industrial distribution, OEMs and systems integrators

Travel Requirements & Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to travel 40% of the time as dictated by assigned territory (including overnight).
  • Must be able to travel via airplane.
  • Must have valid driver’s license and be able to operate an automobile for us to six hours at one time.
  • Must be able to lift to 50lbs. (samples, demos, literature)

Weidmuller holds a liberal paid time off policy which includes Vacation time as well as Personal time for all full-time employees. Vacation allotments are awarded based on calendar years of service. In addition, Weidmuller also grants eleven paid holidays off per calendar year.
