Yard/Warehouse Associate

The Lumberyard/Warehouse Associate is responsible for providing excellent customer service, and the safe and efficient loading of customer vehicles with building materials. This individual is responsible to maintain yard cleanliness and stock inventory. This position reports to the Yard Manager and works closely with external and internal customers.

General Responsibilities and Duties:

• Loading and unloading lumber & building materials using forklifts or bulk stone & sand products with articulating loader
• Inspecting lumber to determine quality and quantity, marking lumber with appropriate codes, and measuring its thickness
• Assist customers in the location and loading of product
• Review materials loaded against appropriate loading ticket
• Maintaining inventory records of incoming and outgoing lumber via customer loading tickets or filling out appropriate return forms
• Move product/material throughout the yard ensuring placement in correct areas with forklift
• Ensure product/material is well stocked of inventory at all times
• Perform routine clean-up of yard and warehouse making sure aisles are clean and free of hazards
• Understand and observe all safety policies, procedures, and guidelines
• Provide superior customer service to internal and external customers at all times
• All other duties as assigned by management

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Ability to take direction and follow instructions
• Current forklift certification or willingness to become forklift certified
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team

Education and Experience:

• High School diploma or GED

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to lift 100lbs, doors and windows up to 75 pounds when needed
• Ability to tolerate adverse weather conditions.
• Ability to lift and carry items over 100 pounds with or without assistance for a moderate distance.
• Ability to walk distances over 100 yards to assist loading customers
• Ability to assist with loading/unloading delivery vehicles or fork trucks

Schedule: Part-time position averages 20 hours per week, Monday through Friday including rotational weekends
