Qualifications
Weems Community Mental Health Center has full time position open for Resource Officers working at our Crisis Stabilization Unit (CSU) in Newton, Mississippi.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Maintain a safe and secure environment for patients, employees, and visitors.
- Provide a visible security presence throughout the inpatient facility and designated grounds.
- Monitor entrances, exits, hallways, common areas, and other designated areas.
- Conduct routine security checks and facility rounds as assigned.
- Monitor and control access to restricted areas.
- Assist with patient, visitor, and staff safety concerns.
- Respond promptly and appropriately to emergencies, security concerns, and behavioral incidents.
- Assist clinical and direct-care staff during behavioral or crisis situations within the scope of training and facility policy.
- Follow established procedures for managing disruptive, aggressive, or potentially dangerous behavior.
- Contact emergency services or law enforcement when necessary and as directed by facility policy.
- Assist in maintaining a secure environment during patient admissions, discharges, transfers, and other activities as assigned.
- Protect confidential patient information and maintain appropriate professional boundaries.
- Follow all facility policies and procedures related to patient rights, safety, confidentiality, infection control, and security.
- Maintain professional and respectful interactions with individuals receiving services, family members, visitors, and employees.
- Maintain required certifications and complete all required facility training.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Previous experience in security, law enforcement, corrections, military, healthcare, behavioral health, or a related field preferred.
- Security officer certification or relevant law enforcement experience preferred.
- Experience working with individuals with mental health or behavioral needs is a plus.
- Must possess strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Must be able to remain calm and exercise sound judgment during stressful or emergency situations.
- Must be able to follow written and verbal instructions and established safety procedures.
- Must be dependable, punctual, and able to work as part of a team.
- Must maintain professional boundaries and demonstrate respect for individuals receiving mental health services.
- Must successfully complete required background checks and facility screening requirements.
