Duties:
- Safely operate buses to transport passengers along designated routes.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of passengers, especially students, during transit.
- Adhere to all traffic laws and regulations while driving.
- Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of the bus interior.
- Assist passengers with boarding and disembarking as needed.
- Communicate effectively with passengers and address any concerns or inquiries courteously.
- Perform routine inspections on the bus to ensure it is in good working condition.
- Report any maintenance or repair needs promptly.
Skills:
- This position requires the proper NYS License of CDL Class B with P and S endorsements and air break license. Must pass drug and medical exams. Must clear fingerprinting (paid by the WCSD)
- Proficient in bus driving techniques, including school bus driving and commercial driving.
- Ability to provide childcare support when necessary.
- Strong communication skills and customer service orientation.
- Knowledge of basic mechanical principles for minor troubleshooting.
- Multilingual abilities are a plus for effective communication with diverse passengers.
- Experience in paratransit or senior care transportation is advantageous.
