POSITION SUMMARY
The Messenger/Runner plays an essential support role for the Abstract Department, responsible for the timely retrieval, delivery, and handling of physical documents between our office, Monroe County offices and courts, and off-site storage locations.
TYPICAL DUTIES AND TECHNICAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Deliveries & Pickups
● Handles the daily delivery and pickup requests within the downtown area
Document Retrieval — Monroe County
● Pulls document copies from the Monroe County Clerk's Office – physical books and/or microfilm
● Orders document copies from the Monroe County Clerk's Office that are unavailable to the public (e.g., Civil Action files in storage, Condo Maps, Subdivision Maps, ancient deeds/mortgages) and picks up when ready
● Goes to Monroe County Surrogate's Court to retrieve documents
Document Handling & Storage
● Carefully scans physical abstracts to be saved in Greenfolders
● Pulls abstracts from storage at the EOB and/or High Falls location
● Discards old files (as directed) into shred bins
Recording Support
● Assists the Recording Department with recording-related tasks as needed
COMMUNICATION SKILLS
Routinely interacts with the Monroe County Clerk's Office, Monroe County Surrogate's Court, and clients during pickups and deliveries. Represents the organization in a professional manner and maintains liaison with individuals and other related organizations.
DIRECTION RECEIVED
Reports to the Abstract Department Manager and receives day-to-day direction regarding pickups, deliveries, and related tasks from the Recording Coordinator and other designated staff.
Pay: $19.00 - $21.00 per hour
