What are the responsibilities and job description for the Activities Director, WGHS position at WEBSTER GROVES SCHOOL DISTRICT?
Primary Objective: To perform this job successfully, the ideal candidate will demonstrate an ability to work well with a variety of individuals in a fast-paced environment. The candidate must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills and abilities.
Major Areas of Accountability:
- Oversee student government, DECA, and all other club and activity groups
- Oversee the following MSHSAA activities: Speech and Debate, Theater, Music, and Scholar bowl
- Maintain and oversee Fine Arts and activity sponsors’ salary schedules
- Assist WGHS teachers in all Fine Arts Productions
- Assist Fine Arts and activities/club sponsors with transportation needs and/or overnight events
- Assist with the promotion and communication of Fine Art events and other school activities
- Coordination and planning of special events throughout the school year, such as:
- Back-to-school registration process
- School Dances and Pep Rallies
- Camp Wyman counselors
- Turkey Day Activities
- Chilifest
- Community pep rally
- Special Olympics Event
- And other similar activities
- Assist with recruiting, interviewing, and recommending qualified persons to fill openings for the extra-curricular/activities staff
- Serve as the liaison to the school selected photography company and coordinate all school photos and extracurricular activities photo dates
- Supervision of athletic and activity events throughout the year as assigned by the building principal
- Manage student parking
- Assist Athletic Director as needed
- Teaching duties as assigned
- Performing other duties consistent with the position
Qualifications:
- Minimum: Five (5) years of significant leadership experience in co-curricular activities
- Preferred: Minimum of five (5) years successful classroom teaching experience; head director, coaching or comparable leadership experience in co-curricular activities; Master's Degree in School Administration and Principal Certificate
