Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor | LADC | ADC-T

Position Summary

The Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor provides outpatient chemical dependency treatment services that empower clients to develop healthy coping skills, achieve sustained recovery, and improve their overall mental, emotional, physical, social, and spiritual wellness.

This position is responsible for delivering high-quality clinical care while maintaining compliance with Minnesota 245G regulations, Minnesota Chapter 148F licensure standards, WebMed LLC policies, and best clinical practices.

Primary ResponsibilitiesComprehensive Assessment & Treatment Planning

• Conduct Comprehensive Substance Use Disorder Assessments in accordance with Minnesota 245G requirements.
• Complete Initial Service Plans upon admission.
• Develop individualized treatment plans based on assessment findings.
• Update treatment plans throughout the course of treatment.
• Complete discharge and termination summaries within required timelines.
• Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant electronic clinical documentation.

Individual & Group Counseling

• Provide individual substance use counseling.
• Facilitate psychoeducational and therapeutic recovery groups.
• Provide relapse prevention education.
• Deliver evidence-based interventions for substance use disorders.
• Address co-occurring mental health concerns within scope of practice.
• Utilize motivational interviewing and person-centered treatment approaches.

Care Coordination

• Coordinate services with probation, social services, healthcare providers, and referral agencies.
• Complete treatment coordination activities within five business days.
• Maintain communication with community partners supporting client recovery.
• Assist clients in accessing appropriate community resources.

Clinical Documentation & Regulatory Compliance

Maintain documentation including:

• Initial Service Plans
• Comprehensive Assessments
• Diagnostic Assessments (when licensed)
• Individual Treatment Plans
• Weekly Progress Notes
• Discharge Summaries
• Treatment Coordination Documentation

Ensure all documentation complies with:

• Minnesota Chapter 245G
• Minnesota Chapter 148F
• DHS regulations
• WebMed LLC documentation standards

Multidisciplinary Collaboration

• Participate in weekly clinical staffing.
• Attend interdisciplinary treatment team meetings.
• Participate in site meetings and case consultation.
• Collaborate with psychiatrists, therapists, case managers, nurses, and community providers.

Community Engagement

• Participate in community education events.
• Represent WebMed at outreach activities.
• Promote recovery resources within the community.
• Support clinic operations and maintain a welcoming treatment environment.

Additional Clinical Responsibilities

• Offer walk-in Comprehensive Assessments as assigned.
• Complete urinalysis testing and documentation.
• Participate in approved therapeutic community outings.
• Assist with intake scheduling and referral follow-up.
• Support clinic cleanliness and treatment environment.

Continuing Education

• Maintain active LADC licensure.
• Complete required continuing education.
• Stay current with evidence-based addiction treatment practices.
• Attend WebMed staff meetings and clinical training.

Minimum Qualifications

• Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LADC) in Minnesota or otherwise qualified under Minnesota Chapter 148F.
• Minimum age of 18 years.
• Ability to successfully complete Minnesota DHS Background Study.
• Ability to provide individual counseling, group counseling, and crisis intervention.
• Completion of (or ability to complete within six months) required co-occurring disorders training.
• Knowledge of Minnesota Chapter 245G regulations.
• Strong clinical documentation skills.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Commitment to person-centered, trauma-informed, recovery-focused care.

Applicants who qualify under Minnesota Statute Chapter 148F licensure exemptions are encouraged to apply if they meet all applicable statutory education and supervised experience requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

• Current Minnesota LADC license.
• Experience working within a Minnesota 245G outpatient treatment program.
• Experience conducting Comprehensive Assessments.
• Experience treating co-occurring mental health disorders.
• Knowledge of Motivational Interviewing, CBT, DBT, and other evidence-based interventions.
• Experience working with criminal justice referrals.
• Strong organizational and documentation skills.
• Experience using Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining exceptional patient care.
