Campus Recreation Lifeguards are responsible for ensuring the safety of participants utilizing the Swenson pool on the WSU campus. The Lifeguard provides quality customer service to aquatic participants and serves as a resource for department and program information. Duties include: Scanning and patrolling pool areas for safety, providing care in the case of an emergency or injury, enforcing facility and program policies, providing feedback to participants, encouraging participation in department programs (e.g., incentive programs to promote exercise adherence), providing solid communication to supervisor and co-workers, providing daily upkeep and maintenance of office and pool facilities, and being a supportive team player. This position reports to the Aquatics Manager.
American Red Cross Lifeguarding/CPR and AED for the Professional Rescuer/First Aid are required prior to working the first shift.
Must possess excellent interpersonal communication and relational service skills.
Preferred Qualifications
High School diploma.
Prefer previous life guarding experience. Prefer work-study candidates.
