Job Summary/Basic Function
The Social Media and Outreach Specialist will support OVA’s mission by strengthening its online presence, increasing community visibility, and engaging supporters through creative storytelling and outreach activities. This student position offers hands-on experience in nonprofit communications, social media management, outreach, and fundraising support.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and grow OVA’s social media presence across multiple platforms, including Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, and others.
- Create, schedule, and publish engaging, informative, and relevant social media content aligned with OVA’s mission and brand.
- Highlight participant success stories and achievements to increase awareness and visibility of the organization.
- Develop engaging outreach and promotional materials for events and community engagement.
- Represent OVA at outreach activities such as tabling events, fairs, and public engagements.
- Participate in fundraising efforts, including event promotion and donor engagement initiatives.
Students in this role will gain:
- Hands-on experience designing, scheduling, and publishing effective social media campaigns.
- Knowledge of best practices for audience engagement, analytics, and nonprofit branding.
- Skills in crafting compelling narratives that highlight participant achievements, donor impact, and organizational success for diverse audiences.
- Experience representing a nonprofit organization at public events, building confidence in public speaking, networking, and community relationship-building
- Exposure to donor engagement strategies, event promotion, and the role of communications in supporting fundraising campaigns.
Required Qualifications
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Familiarity with major social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, etc.).
- Creativity in developing engaging digital content and printed outreach materials.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
- Enthusiasm for adaptive sports, outdoor recreation, and community engagement.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with graphic design or video editing tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe Creative Suite).
- Prior experience in outreach, event support, customer service, or community engagement
- Knowledge of nonprofit communications or fundraising practices.
