All Locations - After-school Student Custodian

Positions have been declared open in the Weber School District for part-time custodial staff at all locations within the District. This position is for 3.00 hours per day, 12 months per year, and is intended for current students, ages 15-18.

Purpose Statement:

The position of Part-time Custodian was created to assist with the cleaning of schools and other District facilities; providing assistance to teachers, students and staff as directed by the Head Custodian or Assistant Head Custodian.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Necessary to Performance of Essential Functions:

• Must be clean and neat in appearance and in personal habits.
• Must be able to lift 50 lbs without difficulty.
• Must be able to clean assigned areas of the building.
• Must be able to wear and use a backpack vacuum, this requires frequent twisting and bending.
• Must be loyal and able to keep confidences.
• Must be able to assist with grounds care and snow removal as assigned.
• Must agree to attend in-person district Part-time Custodial training course (NCOT).
• Must dress appropriately which includes school dress code plus proper foot wear such as closed toe shoes.
• Must use appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as gloves and safety glasses as required.
• May be assigned to secure the school building at the end of the working shift and accept responsibility for that assignment. 
• Other duties as assigned.

Supervision and hours worked for this position:

Supervision for this position will be provided primarily by the Head Custodian or Assistant Head Custodian. In the case of the “Lead Part-time Custodian” position, minimal supervision will be required of that position such as collecting of other employees’ keys at the end of the shift, ensuring that all occupants are clear from the building and the building is secure. The “Lead Part-time Custodian” position only exists in an elementary school without an Assistant Head Custodian and no supervision beyond what has been described above is expected of that employee. The Head Custodian or Assistant Head Custodian is responsible for ongoing training. Part-time custodians are not authorized or permitted to train other part-time custodians. All questions, requests for time off or training requests should be referred to the Head or Assistant Head Custodian. The school Principal has supervision over all school employees.

Hours for this position are subject to change depending on individual school needs, activities, and employee needs but are generally from 3:00pm – 6:00pm during the school year and will vary during the summer.
