What are the responsibilities and job description for the Associate position at Weber Gallagher Simpson Stapleton Fires and Newby?
Weber Gallagher has an immediate opening for an Associate Attorney to join the general liability/civil defense litigation group in our in our Philadelphia office. The individual will be responsible for handling a wide range of casualty litigation and general liability matters including premises liability, personal injury, motor vehicle, product liability and construction liability.
Responsibilities:
- Manage a diverse caseload from inception through resolution.
- Draft pleadings, answer written discovery, take depositions, and participate in arbitrations and trials.
- Take and defend depositions of parties, fact witnesses, and expert witnesses.
- Conduct comprehensive legal research and analysis to develop sound case strategies.
- Communicate with clients, the court, witnesses, opposing counsel, and co-counsel.
- Provide regular and timely updates to clients on case status, strategy, and potential outcomes.
- Work collaboratively with partners, associates, and legal staff.
- Manage cases while adhering to billing and budget requirements.
- Ability to travel for court, client meetings, etc.
- Ability to work a hybrid schedule from our Philadelphia office.
Requirements:
- 5 years of litigation experience, preferably in the casualty/general liability areas.
- J.D. from an accredited law school.
- PA and NJ active and good standing bar license, required; DE Bar license also a plus.
- Experience with drafting pleadings, motions, attending depositions and hearings
- Some arbitration or trial experience
- Experience with billing time preferred but not required
- Strong research, writing, and analytical skills.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Demonstrated interest in liability defense.
