What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Estimator position at Webcor Builders?
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Leads the estimating team to prepare detailed quantity take-offs for assigned segments of the project and apply unit costs. Using an approved list of contractors, invites subcontractors to submit pricing. Create bid packages that are complete in scope and easy to follow.
Reviews construction documents for both negotiated and bid projects; determine both the nature and scope of the work to be performed.
Collaborates and leads a wide variety of professionals including architects, owner representatives, subcontractors, suppliers and Webcor employees.
Actively participates in all design meetings with owners and architects during development of the design.
Involves the subject matter experts within the organization to provide feedback directly to owners and architects during the design process to enhance the cost, schedule, quality, and constructability of a project.
Takes a leadership role with managing relationships with owners and architects.
Develops conceptual estimates at a strategic level.
Creates strong relationships with the local subcontractor market.
Compiles cost data received for subcontractors for Webcor Estimators. Examines data as it is being received for both accuracy and sufficiency before completing the final estimate.
When preliminary cost estimates exceed the owner's expected budget, works with architects and owners in a value-engineering role. Assists in exploring a multitude of architectural alternatives; then pricing the alternatives that offer the greatest opportunity for cost savings. Solicits input via the Webcor team to identify cost-savings alternatives as needed.
Assists in maintaining and updating the master subcontractor list for all trades.
Leads, develop, motivates and more junior team members as required.
Peer reviews work for accuracy. Offers suggestions as needed before bid data is consolidated.
Other special projects and tasks as assigned.
TECHNICAL SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED
Advanced knowledge of construction costs and principles
Advanced knowledge of the following software: WinEst, OST, Revit, Excel, BuildingConnected
Advanced knowledge of construction drawings, costs and principals.
Advanced knowledge and understanding of costs to prepare conceptual estimates.
General knowledge of negotiated bids, hard bids, and GMP processes.
Ability to lead constructability reviews.
Design-Build project and Estimating experience.
Advanced knowledge of various insurance, bonds, contingencies, and mark-ups.
Capable of utilizing risk management Tools (Risk Register, etc.) during project pursuits and preconstruction services.
Advanced knowledge of value engineering and design trend log utilization.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent experience.
Typically, minimum ten years of diversified estimating and construction experience required
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Performance of the required duties will require physical ability to sit for long periods of time at a desk, generally up to 7 hours per day and occasionally standing and walking. The repetitive motion using hands with constant keyboarding and physical use of vision to read computer monitors and paper documents. Regularly required to use hands to operate standard office equipment (personal computer, photocopy machine, fax machine). Occasionally required to stoop, kneel and lift up to 15 pounds. The noise level in the office work environment is usually moderate to loud.

The range of base pay is $170,000 - $195,000. Actual pay is based on individual skill level and experience.
