 You can expect the following schedule:


Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00am – 5:00pm - However some overtime is expected due to the nature of this role.


This role is fully on-site and requires working in the office full time.

Job Summary


The Controller is responsible for overseeing the organization’s accounting operations and ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of financial reporting. This role leads the monthly close process, prepares financial forecasts and projections, and provides financial insights to support strategic decision-making. The Controller reviews key accounting activities performed by staff, monitors budget-to-actual performance, and partners with department leaders to evaluate spending and recommend adjustments. In addition, the Controller manages revenue and cost of goods forecasting, leads the annual budgeting process, and ensures effective internal controls across accounting functions. This position also coordinates the annual audit and tax filings with external auditors and tax advisors while maintaining compliance with applicable accounting standards and company policies.


Key Responsibilities


Financial Management & Reporting



  • Manage and oversee daily accounting operations (GL, AP, AR, payroll, bank reconciliations);

  • Oversee month-end close ensuring timely and accurate reconciliations;

  • Assist in preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements;

  • Maintain internal controls and ensure compliance with company policies.


Cost Accounting & Inventory



  • Implement and maintain costing systems for production and processing;

  • Oversee inventory accounting for raw materials, WIP, and finished goods (popcorn);

  • Partner with production to track yield, shrinkage, and other cost drivers.


Budgeting & Forecasting



  • Lead the annual budgeting process and monthly financial forecasts.

  • Analyze financial performance against budget and provide variance analysis.

  • Identify cost savings opportunities and recommend efficiency improvements.


Qualifications


Required:



  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.

  • 8 years of experience in accounting or finance, with clear role progression.

  • Proficient in NetSuite and Microsoft Excel

  • Strong understanding of inventory, cost accounting, and agricultural production cycles.


Preferred:



  • A background in Audit is strongly preferred.

  • CPA or CMA certification.

  • Experience in agriculture, food production, or commodity-based businesses.
