Position Summary
The Assistant DNS – LPN plays a critical leadership role in overseeing the day-to-day care of our residents. This position is responsible for supervising nursing staff and caregivers, assessing resident needs, maintaining compliance with all regulatory guidelines, and fostering strong relationships with residents and families.
The ideal candidate will have experience with memory care, exceptional clinical skills, and a deep passion for working with seniors.
Key ResponsibilitiesResident Care
- Supervise and coordinate all aspects of resident care.
- Work closely with the Resident Nursing Director to chart changes and ensure continuity of care.
- Conduct initial and ongoing resident assessments, including annual and change-in-condition assessments.
- Initiate and lead collaborative family care conferences.
- Review and process new physician orders; ensure quarterly review of orders.
- Monitor and ensure accurate and timely documentation, including nursing notes, alert charting, and vital signs.
- Dispense, document, and manage medications and treatments.
- Respond to emergency situations and implement life-saving measures when necessary.
Team Leadership
- Supervise and support CNA staff and nursing team members.
- Promote high standards in resident care and professional nursing practices.
- Provide training, guidance, and evaluation of caregiving staff.
- Foster a culture of teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Community Relations
- Build and maintain strong relationships with residents, families, and healthcare partners.
- Represent Weatherly Inn at senior health fairs, marketing tours, and other outreach efforts.
- Coordinate admissions, transfers, and discharges in collaboration with internal staff and external agencies.
Compliance & Risk Management
- Ensure adherence to all state and federal nursing regulations (e.g., DSHS).
- Respond to regulatory inspections and participate in corrective action planning.
- Complete and document incident reports; support accident prevention initiatives.
- Participate in quarterly Quality Assurance meetings and compliance reviews.
- Maintain and monitor infection control and exposure control plans.
Qualifications & Skills
- Education: GED or High School Diploma required. Associate or Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing preferred.
- Licensure: Active LPN license in the State of Washington (Required).
- Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years in nursing or a related healthcare field.
- At least 2 years in a supervisory or leadership role.
- Experience working with individuals with memory impairment strongly preferred.
- Skills:
- Strong clinical, critical-thinking, and documentation abilities.
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
- Proven leadership, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
