Position Title: Activity Assistant (Exercise Focus)
Location: Weatherly Inn – Renton, WA
About the Role:
Weatherly Inn – Renton is seeking a friendly, outgoing, and compassionate Activity Assistant with a focus on exercise to serve our senior residents. The ideal candidate will bring energy, creativity, and care to our activity programs, helping residents stay active, engaged, and happy.
Requirements:
- Education: High school diploma or GED required; Activity Specialty Education preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of one (1) year in a similar or related role preferred.
- Licenses:
- Valid Washington State Driver’s License with a clean driving record (no moving violations in the past 3 years).
- CNA or HCA license preferred.
- Certificates (may be obtained after hire):
- Food Handler’s Permit (within 14 days)
- CPR & First Aid Certification (within 30 days)
- Dementia & Mental Health Training (within 90 days)
Job Skills & Abilities:
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, carry up to 25 lbs, and push up to 250 lbs (wheelchairs, carts).
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, squat, and bend frequently throughout the shift.
- Perform repetitive arm/hand movements and reach above shoulder level.
- Proficient in multitasking, organization, communication, and leadership.
- Comfortable operating equipment such as a vacuum, extractor, copier, computer, and community bus.
- Skills in arts, crafts, and/or music are preferred.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and assist in daily exercise programs and other activities for residents.
- Support residents with participation in activities suited to their abilities and interests.
- Observe and report any changes in residents’ behavior, mood, or physical condition to nursing staff.
- Follow the activity calendar established by the Activities Director.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
- Report maintenance issues or unsafe conditions promptly.
- Adhere to all policies in the Employee Handbook and General Requirements.
- Report any work-related injuries immediately to a supervisor or charge nurse.
