Position Overview
The Activity Assistant supports Memory Care residents by facilitating engaging programs and providing compassionate assistance. This role combines creativity, caregiving, and collaboration to enhance residents’ daily experiences.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and assist residents with scheduled activities, arts, crafts, and music programs
- Encourage participation while respecting individual preferences
- Coordinate activities with Assisted Living and Memory Care staff
- Observe residents and report changes in behavior or safety concerns to nursing
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized activity environment
- Respond promptly to emergencies or suspected abuse and notify supervisor
Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED required; Activity-related education preferred
- 1 year experience in caregiving or activity programming
- CPR & First Aid, Dementia & Mental Health training, and Food Handler’s Permit (or ability to obtain)
- Valid Washington State Driver’s License with clean driving record
Strong communication, organization, multitasking, and creativity skills
Physical Requirements
Lift up to 50 lbs and assist residents as needed
Stand, walk, bend, squat, and perform repetitive arm/hand movements during shifts
