Position Summary
The Purchasing & Forecasting Specialist is responsible for managing inventory planning and procurement activities to ensure optimal product availability while minimizing excess inventory and costs. This role develops demand forecasts, analyzes historical sales and market trends, and collaborates with internal teams and suppliers to align purchasing decisions with business needs. The position plays a key role in maintaining supply continuity, improving inventory accuracy, and supporting overall supply chain efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain demand forecasts using historical data, sales trends, seasonality, and market insights.
- Monitor inventory levels and recommend purchasing actions to prevent stockouts or overstock conditions.
- Analyze forecast accuracy and adjust forecasting models to improve reliability.
- Track supplier performance, lead times, and delivery schedules to ensure timely replenishment.
- Maintain accurate purchasing, inventory, and forecast data within ERP or inventory management systems.
- Identify opportunities to optimize inventory turns, reduce carrying costs, and improve service levels.
- Prepare reports and dashboards related to forecast performance, inventory metrics, and purchasing activity.
Qualifications-
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Finance, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- 2–5 years of experience in purchasing, inventory planning, demand forecasting, or supply chain operations.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret large data sets.
- Experience with ERP/MRP systems and advanced Excel or data analysis tools.
- Understanding of inventory management principles such as safety stock, lead time planning, and reorder points.
- Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with forecasting software or demand planning tools.
