Mechanical/Maintenance Supervisor
Job description
Responsibilities:
· Manages a team of 2-5 Mechanics and Maintenance Technicians who perform the below tasks; primarily supervision but also active task participation in the field:
· Performs rebuilds, repairs, removal and install on the following but not limited to: gear boxes, pneumatic cylinders, air slides, bucket elevators, lubrication systems, valves, dust filters, compressors, screw conveyers, hydraulic equipment, finish mill etc.
· Performs routine preventative maintenance.
· Adheres to all safety policies and procedures.
· Ensures correct and safe operation of equipment.
· Identifies faulty equipment through observation and testing metrics.
· Determines if maintenance action is required and acts appropriately.
· Attends daily meetings to prioritize work orders and minimize downtime
· Safely operates power tools, hoists, hand tools etc.
· Assesses the condition of used parts using micrometers, calipers and specifications
· Maintains parts and tools inventory.
· Prepares maintenance reports as required.
· Maintains tools, equipment and work areas in a clean and orderly manner.
· Interacts with vendors and outside service providers.
· Maintain good housekeeping conditions in all working areas.
· Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
· High school diploma or GED
· Minimum of 10 years industrial maintenance or heavy equipment experience required.
· Must have experience using hand tools, power tools, hoists, jacks, squares, rules, scales, dial indicators, micrometers, laser alignment, optical levels and plumb bobs.
· Must possess strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills: welding, fabricating, plumbing, construction work, etc.
· Must have a good understanding of blueprints and schematic drawings to determine work procedures.
· Advanced knowledge of:
o Mechanical equipment (Gearboxes, bearings, couplings, precision alignment, universal joints, safety coupling, hydraulic actuators)
o Hydraulic equipment (Hydraulic diagrams, drawing interpretation; hydraulic filtration, conditioning systems; directional, proportional and servo valves)
o Lubrication theory and systems (Grease types for complex application; force and/or positive grease and oil systems; oil analysis and results interpretation)
· Understanding of electrical systems, HMI systems, computers.
· Experience with various mobile equipment. Ability to operate manlifts, forklifts, loaders, skid steers, etc.
· Performs a wide range of duties requiring heavy lifting, awkward work positions, climbing ladders and frequent movement both within and outside multi-floor buildings.
· Knowledge of the occupational hazards and applicable safety precautions of the assigned work.
· Team player, ability to motivate and supervise a team.
· Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
Working Conditions:
· Plant and surface mining environment with periodic visits to the office area.
· Heavy industrial environment that may be hot, cold, wet, dusty, and physically demanding. Must be able to hear and see warning horns and other hazards.
· Exposed to any number of elements, but none present to the extent of being disagreeable. Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
· Ability to lift up to 50 pounds with or without accommodation.
· Must be willing to work overtime and flexible shifts as required
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: From $30.00 - $33.00 per hour
Expected hours: No less than 40 per week
Salary : $30 - $33
