About We Sell Cellular

We Sell Cellular (WSC) is a leading provider in the secondary mobile device industry, specializing in the sourcing, processing, and distribution of pre-owned mobile devices. Through our operations, technology, and industry expertise, we help extend the lifecycle of mobile devices and support a more accessible and sustainable global device ecosystem.

WSC is part of the ITOCHU Group, providing the strength and resources of a global organization while maintaining an entrepreneurial and collaborative working environment. Our team is focused on operational excellence, continued growth, and building a business that delivers long-term value for our customers, employees, and partners.

Position Summary

We Sell Cellular buys used and refurbished mobile devices in volume from carriers, OEM programs, and trade-in channels, and resells them through wholesale and retail channels. Every purchase begins with a bid, and every bid is a pricing judgment: what the device will sell for, what it will cost to grade and refurbish, and what margin remains. This is a developing analytical role designed for an early-career professional who will build expertise in device pricing, purchasing, grading, refurbishment economics, and secondary-market dynamics. The Pricing Analyst will initially work closely with experienced Buyers and the Director of Sourcing and will take on greater ownership of pricing analysis and recommendations as their market knowledge and judgment develop.

This role reports to the Director of Sourcing and supports Buyers and cross-functional teams across Sales, Operations, Finance, and Engineering/Data by analyzing pricing, demand, product condition, and cost data to inform purchasing decisions, monitor margins, and improve pricing accuracy and reporting.

Key Responsibilities

Price Analysis (Purchasing)

  • Market price tracking. Maintain a current view of buy-side and sell-side prices by model, storage, carrier, and grade: daily award prices, secondary-market and wholesale prices, and WSC's own realized sale prices
  • Comparable analysis. Build like-for-like comparisons across sources and time so that a bid can be judged against what the same device actually cost and sold for recently
  • Margin visibility. Track the spread between purchase price and realized sale price by category, including grading and refurbishment cost, and flag categories where margin is compressing
  • Data hygiene. Keep pricing data sets clean and consistent; flag data quality issues to Engineering / Data rather than working around them

Bid Price Decision Support

  • Bid analysis support. Prepare analysis for lot and program bids, including expected resale value, margin, grade mix, and other key assumptions. Develop pricing recommendations in partnership with Buyers and the Director of Sourcing, taking on greater ownership as market knowledge and experience develop.
  • Scenario analysis. Show how the recommendation changes under different resale prices, grade mixes, or demand conditions, so the Buyer can decide how aggressive to be
  • Pricing floor support. Maintain and prepare the data and analysis used by the Director of Sourcing and Buyers to establish and review pricing floors; monitor bids against established parameters and flag exceptions.
  • Post-bid review. Compare bid assumptions with actual outcomes including realized price, grade mix and sell-through and feed the learning back into the next recommendation

Reporting & Communication

  • Daily and weekly reporting. Contribute to the daily market report and weekly purchasing KPI review with price movements, margin trends, and notable bids
  • Documentation. Record pricing decisions, assumptions, and outcomes so that the team's pricing knowledge accumulates rather than living in individual heads
  • Buyer partnership. Work closely with Buyers on live bids to understand the information needed for purchasing decisions, respond quickly to analytical requests, and progressively build knowledge of WSC's bidding and purchasing process.

Qualifications

Must-have

  • Bachelor's degree in business, economics, finance, statistics, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
  • Strong numerical judgment and comfort working with prices, margins, and volumes in spreadsheets
  • Advanced spreadsheet skills (Google Sheets / Excel): lookups, pivots, scenario tables
  • Clear written communication — able to turn analysis into a one-page recommendation with assumptions and risks
  • Market curiosity — genuine interest in mobile devices, secondary markets, and how prices move
  • Attention to detail and ownership of the accuracy of every number handed to a Buyer

Preferred

  • Internship or early-career experience in pricing, purchasing, procurement, finance, merchandising, inventory, supply chain, business analytics, or a related area. Relevant internships, academic projects or equivalent practical experience will be considered.
  • Familiarity with carrier and OEM trade-in programs, device grading, or refurbishment economics
  • Experience building dashboards or automated reports (Looker Studio, Sheets, or similar)
  • Bilingual (Japanese or Spanish) a plus

Key Competencies

  • Numerical judgment — knows when a number looks wrong and checks it
  • Decision support mindset — every analysis ends in a recommendation a Buyer can act on
  • AI adoption — Quick to leverage AI to work faster, with the discipline to double-check all data
  • Market awareness — follows device launches, carrier moves, and secondary-market prices as a habit
  • Documentation discipline — assumptions and outcomes recorded so the team learns
  • Collaboration — works at the Buyer's pace and in the Buyer's language
  • Learning orientation — builds device, grading, and market knowledge steadily toward the Buyer track

Working Conditions

  • This role is based in Edgewood, NY and requires regular on-site presence to work closely with the Purchasing team and Operations / Grading floor.
