Estimator - Civil Construction / Earthworks / Site Development

Overview
We are partnered with an established civil construction contractor in Texas to recruit an experienced Estimator with a strong background in earthworks, site development, and heavy civil construction.
The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience estimating earthworks projects, strong technical knowledge of grading and excavation, and proficiency with earthwork takeoff and heavy civil estimation software suites such as Agtek, Insight, TopCon.
Responsibilities
- Prepare accurate and competitive estimates for earthworks, grading, excavation, and site development projects.
- Perform detailed quantity takeoffs and earthwork calculations using AGTEK or similar software.
- Review construction drawings, specifications, geotechnical reports, and bid documents.
- Calculate cut/fill volumes, material quantities, equipment requirements, and production rates.
- Develop detailed cost estimates covering labor, equipment, materials, subcontractors, and project overheads.
- Obtain and evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotations.
- Identify potential project risks, value engineering opportunities, and cost-saving measures.
- Collaborate with project managers, operations teams, and senior leadership throughout the bidding process.
- Support bid submissions, project handovers, and preconstruction planning.
Requirements
- Previous estimating experience within civil construction, specifically earthworks, excavation, grading, or mass earthmoving.
- Proficiency with Agtek, TopCon, Insight, or earthwork estimating/takeoff software.
- Strong understanding of earthmoving operations, equipment productivity, and construction methodologies.
- Ability to interpret civil engineering drawings, grading plans, and technical specifications.
- Experience preparing detailed quantity takeoffs and competitive bids.
- Strong numerical, analytical, and communication skills.
