The Role
- Manage a docket of transportation and railroad liability matters for institutional and insured defense clients
- Develop and execute case strategy across discovery, motion practice, depositions, and pretrial preparation
- Draft substantive motions, pleadings, and written discovery in complex injury and FELA related cases
- Take and defend fact and expert depositions and appear in court for hearings and related proceedings
- Maintain and grow client relationships while supporting targeted business development initiatives
Ideal Candidate Profile
The firm is seeking a 3 to 5 year General Liability Attorney Transportation and Railroad Defense with:
- 3 to 5 years of licensed litigation experience with increasing case responsibility
- Experience managing cases including drafting critical motions and handling written discovery
- Background or strong interest in transportation or railroad matters including grade crossing and FELA claims
- Illinois bar admission and strong written and oral advocacy skills
- Ability to work in the Chicago office 5 days per week and build client relationships
Compensation & Benefits
- $110,000 to $160,000 base salary, depending on experience
- Discretionary profit sharing and merit based bonus opportunities
- Approximate 2,000 hour annual billable expectation aligned with litigation workload
