Local News Photographer
WCVB, the ABC affiliate in Boston, has an opening for a part-time Local News Photographer/Editor. We are looking for a photographer with the ability to capture the essence of what is happening in the field and bring it vividly into the homes of our viewers. You will spend several hours each day out in the field shooting, editing, and executing creative live shots. You must be up to date on the modern aspects of our medium and have an excellent eye for video. You will work well with others, always positively representing our station with the highest journalistic standards and professionalism on display. You will work with and report to the News Operations Manager.
Responsibilities
The estimated base hourly range for this role is between $30.99/hour and $49.84/hour. The actual base pay offered is dependent upon many factors, such as transferable skills, work experience, business needs, market demands and conditions, including geographic location where the work will be performed, and other factors permitted by law. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.

Local News Photographer

Responsibilities
- Shooting and editing of VOs, VO-SOTs and packages for broadcast air and online postings
- Execute well-lit and creative live shots
- Work with the Assignment Desk, Reporters, Producers and the Web to cover daily stories
- Shoot on assigned professional ENG camera equipment
- Edit in Adobe Premiere and use ENG, SNG, and wireless data to feed completed work to the station
- Gather video and still pictures for digital platforms
- Work with reporters and the assignment desk to ensure the best content and facts are gathered
- Work with producers to ensure their creative vision is accomplished with vivid video and natural sound
- Work with catalog systems to save/store, record and locate necessary video
- Produce and publish content to our online platforms
- Good organization and attention to gear/equipment maintenance
- Training in the art of video photojournalism
- Professional or college experience in a news environment
- Carry up to 50 pounds of equipment
- Experience with ENG live vans
- Can work in all weather conditions
- Have a valid driver's license and a clean driving record
- Computer and software experience; knowledge of Adobe Premiere in particular
- Can organize, prioritize and make deadline
- Ability to take initiative, work collaboratively and communicate proactively
- Have and exhibit unwavering journalistic integrity and ethical standards
- Can deal with the stresses and pressures of time-sensitive newscast production
- Related military experience will be considered
