WCI’s Deaf Supports Program is seeking a dedicated, organized, and compassionate House Manager to support Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing individuals in a residential setting. This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about empowerment, communication access, and high‑quality person-centered care.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee daily operations of the residential program
- Provide supervision, training, guidance, and scheduling for direct support staff
- Support individuals with daily living skills, communication needs, and community engagement
- Model and promote effective communication and Deaf-friendly practices
- Ensure the home environment is safe, clean, and well-maintained
- Develop and monitor individual support plans in collaboration with the ISP team
- Maintain accurate documentation, program records, and incident reports
- Manage medication administration procedures and ensure compliance
- Assist with budgeting, household purchases, and financial tracking for the residence
- Coordinate medical appointments, transportation, and community activities
- Communicate regularly with guardians, clinicians, case managers, and agency leadership
- Participate in on-call rotation as needed
- Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor
Qualifications
- Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL) preferred
- Experience working with Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing individuals preferred
- We welcome candidates who are willing and motivated to learn ASL
- WCI provides employer-paid ASL classes to help staff learn or strengthen their ASL skills
- Bachelor’s degree (human services preferred) with at least one year of experience in developmental disabilities and at least one year of supervisory experience.
- Or, Associates degrees in human services or related field and three years of experience in developmental disabilities and at least one year of supervisory experience.
- Or, high school diploma or equivalent and at least four years of experience in developmental disabilities and two years of supervisory experience.
- Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills
- Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand, walk, and move for extended periods throughout the day, including stairs. Must be able to physically complete the evacuation plan while supporting Individuals.
- Frequently lift, carry, push, or pull up to 25 lbs (e.g., files, supplies, groceries)
- Occasionally lift or move up to 50 lbs (e.g., assisting with transfers, repositioning individuals, crisis prevention, pushing individuals in wheelchairs, using Hoyer lifts)
- Ability to provide hands-on support for personal care as needed per individual support plans (e.g., showering, toileting, assistance with eating)
- Ability to perform basic household tasks related to program operations (e.g., meal preparation, laundry, routine household cleaning, snow shoveling)
- Ability to operate or ride in a vehicle; driving is a requirement for most positions and includes driving agency vans, including wheelchair vans, or personal vehicles
Ability to secure wheelchairs and assistive devices as needed
