The Wayne County Airport Police Department recognizes the need to bring
community resources together for the purpose of safety and to assist people
experiencing a mental health crisis. The Crisis Intervention Team (CIT ) reflects
the values of the community it serves by promoting dignity and fairness to all
people through training, encounters with people in crisis, and community
partnerships.
The goal of the Crisis Intervention Team is to connect or re-direct individuals in crisis and their families to resources that can provide stability and support, assist individuals in crisis while demonstrating dignity and respect. The teams also improves the safety of officers, individuals in crisis, their family members, and other members of the community by reducing the need for individuals in crisis to have further involvement with the criminal justice system.
