About the Role

The Peer Navigator is a young adult (ages 18–28) who has lived experience with unaccompanied homelessness and/or housing instability during their youth. This unique role provides mentorship, encouragement, advocacy, and connection to resources for young people who may be experiencing housing challenges or crises.

As a Peer Navigator, you'll use your lived experience to build authentic relationships with youth and young adults, helping them navigate barriers, access support, and move toward stability and self-defined goals. Through outreach, peer support, and community engagement, you'll serve as a trusted guide and positive role model.

This is a part-time position (24 hours per week) with in-person office hours required at the Rochester Youth Resource Center on:

You will work closely with the Youth Navigator and a dedicated team of professionals who are committed to preventing and ending youth homelessness across New Hampshire.

What You'll Do

  • Establish trusting relationships through empathy, authenticity, and a strengths-based approach.
  • Empower young people to advocate for themselves and actively participate in their goals and service plans.

Provide Peer Support and Advocacy

Foster Community and Belonging

  • Facilitate monthly peer activities that promote wellness, life skills, connection, and personal growth.
  • Participate in Youth Action Board activities and support youth voice and leadership opportunities.
  • Help create welcoming spaces where all young people feel respected, heard, and valued.

Collaborate as Part of a Community of Care

  • Work closely with colleagues, community partners, and service providers to support youth success.
  • Participate in supervision, team meetings, and ongoing professional development.
  • Maintain timely and accurate documentation and records.

What We're Looking For

  • Age 18–28 with lived experience of youth homelessness and/or housing instability.
  • A passion for helping others and building supportive relationships.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to connect with youth from diverse backgrounds with empathy, respect, and cultural humility.
