What are the responsibilities and job description for the Counselor position at Waypoint Psychotherapy?

Job Title: Associate Professional Counselor for Private Practice. Full-time, Kennesaw, GA.

Job Summary:

Waypoint Psychotherapy, a secular, trauma-informed private practice in Kennesaw is seeking an Associate Professional Counselor (or equivalent pre-licensed therapist) to join its expanding practice.

Waypoint has been my solo private practice for 5 years, and I have more new client inquiries than I can schedule. To accommodate demand, I have moved into a beautiful new office suite and launched Waypoint Psychotherapy as a group practice. I’m seeking an associate to join me. This is a tremendous opportunity to transition into private practice in a close, collaborative environment.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Have a commitment to counseling from a secular worldview, regardless of personal faith, as this is a major concern for many in our target population and has been foundational to the success of the practice in attracting clients.
  • Be passionate about working with and learning about treating trauma and anxiety disorders.
  • Bring their own areas of interest and methodologies to complement what the practice already offers.
  • Be able to quickly set new clients at ease, make them feel liked and understood, and to inspire them with hope and confidence.
  • Be willing to work closely and collaboratively with the owner, as I am looking for a colleague, not just an employee.
  • Be comfortable with the nature of income in private practice.

I offer:

  • A steady flow of clients, averaging one to five new clients per week.
  • A generous starting commission with opportunities for increase over time.
  • Directorship towards licensure.
  • Flexible hours: You determine your schedule so long as you meet the minimum caseload.
  • Supervisory billing for three insurance companies, allowing you to accept insurance in some cases while in pursuit of independent licensure.
  • Monthly allowance to compensate for outside supervision.
  • Psychology Today listing, marketing materials, required technologies, professional liability insurance, and continuing education courses paid for by the practice.
  • Insurance credentialing once you become fully licensed.
  • A beautifully furnished, dedicated office space in a peaceful environment and a great location.

Responsibilities

  • Provide effective, caring, in-person counseling and psychotherapy services in-person.
  • Complete client progress notes, assessments, diagnoses and treatment plans in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Adhere to pursuit-of-licensure requirements as laid out by the Composite Board.
  • Participate in weekly supervision and or consultation meetings as scheduled.
  • Adhere to the code of ethics of the appropriate discipline.

Earnings

As with most private practices, earnings are on a commission basis (a percentage, paid when the practice gets paid). Payroll will be run weekly, with payouts made for funds posted the previous week. It can take from four to eight weeks to reach a full-time caseload, so income will start small but should grow quickly. Realistic expected earnings with a full-time caseload of 20 to 30 clients per week are between 4,500 and 6,000 per month.
