Research Scientist - Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology

Essential functions (job duties):

Unique duties:

Conduct independent and collaborative research in reproductive sciences involving multi-organ integrative physiologic and immunologic studies using in vitro systems, rodent models, engineered tissues, organoid, and organ-on-chip platforms, as well as neurobehavioral assessments. Design, implement, and optimize experimental protocols; analyze and interpret research data; prepare manuscripts for peer-reviewed publication; and contribute to the development of grant applications, progress reports, and other scientific communications. Maintain and manage biological sample repositories, research databases, and project records; ensure accurate documentation and compliance with applicable research standards and protocols. Assist in training, mentoring, and providing scientific guidance to research students, trainees, and laboratory personnel as appropriate. Participate in laboratory operations, including maintenance of research equipment, organization of research materials, and coordination of activities supporting ongoing research projects. Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Education: Ph.D. in Developmental Biology, Reproductive Biology, Physiology, Neuroscience, Bioengineering, Molecular Biology, or a closely related field. Preferred Experience: Experience with engineered tissues, organoids, and organ-on-chip models. Experience conducting in vivo studies using rodent models. Experience with neurobehavioral testing and analysis. Experience with molecular and cellular biology techniques. Experience with experimental design, data interpretation, and statistical analysis. Experience preparing manuscripts for peer-reviewed publication. Experience contributing to grant applications, research proposals, and scientific reports. Experience in developmental, reproductive, pulmonary, neurodevelopmental, or related biomedical research. Required Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary research environment. Demonstrated ability to design, coordinate, and execute complex research studies. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Strong organizational, project management, and record-keeping skills. Knowledge of neurodevelopment, neuroanatomy, pulmonary development, and/or reproductive biology. Proficiency in molecular, cellular, and related laboratory techniques.
