Direct Report: Activities Director
Job Summary:
Under the supervision of the Activities Director, you are responsible for providing the highest quality of care in our 117-bed facility to our residents in a family-like environment. You will help plan events for physical, emotional, intellectual, spiritual, educational, or social activities in a variety of settings to provide socialization and enjoyment to all residents.
Qualifications:
- Must be a minimum of 18 years of age.
- High school diploma or GED Certificate.
- Previous long-term care experience preferred but not required.
- Flexibility and creativity to meet the needs of the residents.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Planning and facilitating daily, weekly, and monthly events to encourage socialization, relaxation, and recreation to the needs of individuals, and group activities to bring residents, families, and friends together.
- Work co-operatively with staff, service providers, and volunteers to meet resident and family needs.
- Monitor resident behaviors and changes in condition during activities, reporting those changes to the Activities Director, RN Supervisor, and LPN on resident hall.
- Helping and encouraging resident to actively take part in activities.
- Assist in providing one to one visit for residents.
- Provide materials to residents to promote independent leisure or diversional activities.
- Transport residents to and from activities.
- Set-up and clean the activity area as necessary.
- Provide oversight of residents and volunteers during off-site outings.
- Observe residents at events to gauge their enjoyment and obtain their feedback to improve events.
Specific Requirements:
- Must be able to work as a team.
- Must be able to read and write the English language.
- Must possess excellent oral and strong written communication skills.
- Must possess excellent time management, organizational, and multitasking skills to complete daily tasks.
- Must possess kindness, compassion, and patience for our residents and their families.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to sit, stand, bend, lift and move intermittently throughout the workday.
- Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds.
- Must be able to work independently.
